I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard, the latest version, with Safari
3.1.2. I am not using any of the Webkit nightly builds, just the
standard install of Safari/Webkit. HOwever, I just ran Software
Update and have discovered that there's a newer version of Safari,
V3.2.1. So it might be that this is a very recent bug in Webkit,
not necessarily a design choice. I'm installing the update now and
will report back. The site you provided works as expected on the
set up described above.

I have never seen an occasion where VO doesn't read the link
text. The title text, from what I've seen, is usually spoken for
image text. Your example works as one would expect. Can you
provide a link where this problem is occurring?

For example, on http://iavit.org there is a link that VO reads as
"Welcome", however, the visible text is "Home".
