Over the last few months I have had an off and on issue with my online banking
website.
There is a link to export transactions and download statements. Sometimes these
links are accessible to VO and sometimes they are not.
It perplexed me and I contacted the bank technology developers to see if they
could help. I indicated I used a screenreader and an Apple iMac and ran the
recent updates of Safari and Sierra.
They are very receptive and interested but could not offer a reason for what
was happening.
I of course tried lots of things including private browsing and changing the
user agent but nothing helped.
Finally I asked my son who is visiting to look at the screen and see if the
links were visible.
They weren’t, either to him or myself but then he asked me to maximise the
screen with the full screen option, and voila ! there were the evasive links.
How simple a solution was that ? I did not realise the window was not
maximised, but more than that, I did not realise that some information would be
inaccessible unless the screen was maximised.
Now I am curious whether there are other sites and APPs that have given me
accessibility problems for the same reason.
I am also going to train myself to ensure all my windows are in full screen
mode from when they are first opened.
