Hi all.

I don't know if this has to go to the audio list; I'll move it there if necessary but I think it's borderline because it isn't about using special audio software or recording or anything. I am having a mail sounds problem. I don't think this started when I installed snow leopard so maybe an upgrade did this.

I have some sounds I really like which I've put in my Library/Sounds folder in my home directory and I also have copied them to /System/ Library/Sounds. These are .au files rather than wav or aiff. In Tiger and Leopard I could use them as mail sounds. Now they don't even show up in the sounds popup in my mail rules and they don't show up in the Sounds table when I choose add/remove from the popup. If I go into Finder and do vokeys-space on one of these .au files, Quicktime player opens but I have to check the "play" box before they will play; they do not automatically play when opened. Is there some setting to change with Quicktime or in the info for these sounds so they will play automatically and show up in my sounds choices again? My Westminister chimes and my Close Encounters of the Third Kind melodies will be history if I can't fix this.

Tia.
