[macvoiceover] Mac reading external NTFS-formatted drive?

Can a Mac running ML copy from a drive that is formatted with NTFS? I
have some music that I'd like to import to iTunes on my new Mac, but it
is all backed up to a drive that is formatted with NTFS. Should the Mac
be able to see and import from that? Or do I need a helper program?
