OK, I've found several Emacs implementations for OSX. I downloaded Aquamacs
and it doesn't like VO at all. Sorry to be a pain, but can you recommend a
distribution, please?

Terminal is already being used for compilations and an editor was
requested that could work in that environment. Specifically, emacs has
additional support for many programming languages the more current version
of emacs the more programming languages and emacs knows about gcc and
associated commands. It's actually possible to do compiles from inside of
emacs with gcc once you learn the necessary emacs keystrokes. On Tue, 4
