Good evening Keith. Thanks for the link. Gotta say, I was very impressed at
how he presented voiceover. Rather then single out the blind population he
simply stated that voiceover was important to a large quantity of users.
Now of course we sure hope that more of the apps are accessible and most of
that probably hinges on app developers embracing the standards that apple
has put out there. Hopefully though most of leopard itself will be
accessible. At least!!! Apple didn't let us down and leave us in the dust.
They didn't say here's a screen reader and we are done. This calls to mind
a conversation I had with Mike Shabanek Who holds a rather high position on
the voiceover development team.
I called him to talk about Tiger and what was to become of voiceover. would
it be developed or was this as good as it gets. He sincerely asked me why
people don't believe that Apple will continue to developed this product. I
told him that people didn't have much faith in the big companies and really
didn't think they would take the time to actually put effort in developing a
component for a small market. He assured me that this was not the case.
Apple was committed in a big way to making Voiceover the best screen reader
on the market. Well, that the Leopard developments reaffirm Apples
commitment to this project. Also, to mike's credit he has always answered my
E-Mail no matter what my questions. He of course couldn't share much but the
fact that he even took the time to reply and at least assure me that
development was continuing means quite a lot. Also, accessibility@xxxxxxxxx
has always been responsive. Guess I am really gonna have to buy that new
desktop Mac to go with my powerbook.

Hello every one,
Here is a link to the message from WWDC. One of the most noteable things is that you will find a link on this page for Voiceover users to listen to the message and Steve takes several minutes to talk about the importants of Voiceover.
Listen to the whole thing, it is great!
