No, I hadn't deliberately downloaded a new version.

Hi Cheryl,
That is interesting. Have you recently downloaded a new version of the Kindle
app? I know there is a version in beta for the PC which greatly improves
accessibility over there, or so I hear. Since I don't have it, I can't testify
personally. But others say it's much better and actually works with one screen
reader, nvda. So I'm wondering if you got a new version of the Kindle for Mac.
I am pretty sure I deleted that, because it was totally worthless the last time
I tried it.

I just bought a new Kindle book. In preparation for converting it, I opened
the Kindle app on my Mac. To my total shock, a book I must have previously
loaded started reading. In a way I am not surprised because I have seen some
signs that areas of the Kindle app were more readable. cmd-t toggles speech
on and off and I think maybe it uses your system voice. I haven't figured out
if there is any way to actually navigate or not.
