I think you'd be better off waiting for another generation or 2 of IPod Touch and maturation of ocr and other camera-related apps before messing with them. It depends how much patience you have, what kind of results you are willing to put up with in terms of ocr quality being much worse than what you're use to from either a desktop system or the KNFB reader and, in the case of digitize, results have been so wildly varied with that app, from useless to decent and most of those with the IPhone, not the Touch. the Touch that is on sale that was the subject of discussion is going to be able to run ios 4.2. If that's your main concern, why spend more money? If the newer gen touch had a microphone or a gps or a camera equal to the one in the IPhone 4, or some combination of those things, it'd be a lot more worthy of attention IMHO. I've got the older Touch, and it works great.
