I'm not sure what you mean by "actual work". Like any new device, it takes getting used to and using it. In doing so, you find ways of getting tasks done. At this stage, those of us who have iPhones are learning and exploring and becoming confident and proficient with them. I'm going to try this shortly, but I think one can check weather and make appointments while on a call. Additionally, I have no idea why a big deal is being made about using a headset. The earphones that come with the iPhone are not at all clumsy or awkward. Also, as has been mentioned, there are other ways around the issue of the screen being locked during a call, which, as far as I can tell, has not slowed the rate of sales of the device in the market place.
