How much space on your hard drive are you using? If you really want to backup and have no other way, if you have enough space, it's possible to resize your Macosx partition without losing data; this leaves another partition which you can use for backup for instance using superduper. Then when you don't need it any more, you just resize your original volume again to once again include what you had been using for backup. You can do this in disk utility but I find using the diskutil resizeVolume to be easier. I know it sounds complicated but once you do it once it isn't difficult. I'll post more if somebody needs it. The easiest thing, of course, is to have an external drive for backup.
