Ok. The sighted person loves coffee so she won't mind going away when it works but I am going to have her there just in case. I didn't realize Tiger was also a talking install. When I got the iMac, it didn't talk right away. It was screaming at me for a mouse and just sitting there until I plugged in the mouse. Then I got the screen about languages. Once I chose English, it was ok but until I did that, no talk. How would I know which language I was choosing? Can I trust it 100% of the time to default to English?

Believe it. It's true. I've installed every version of Mac OS since Tiger. Which makes two, and three coming up Friday. It really can't be easier, and I promise you it works. You literally will be able to tell your sighted help to go get a cup of coffee and leave you alone, because you really won't need it.

I just preordered the cat today. smile
When I get it, I'll get sighted help for the install so will let the list know how much help I need as I've never had anything with a talking install and don't believe it until I hear it!

I was wondering, as I'm sure everyone's either preordered or is going to pre-order the next big cat, how easy it will be to install with no sighted assistance. would someone maybe be so kind to possibly write a guide. I want to be able to do this but I'm a little apprhensive. obviously never installed an OS before. a little daunting to say the least.
