I once sent a very funny albeit profanity laden email about the business practices of a certain access technology company not to the three people I had intended but, rather, to about 30 of the top research and non-profit people in the blindness and general disability field.
The most offensive term in the memo was "Heinous fu**ery" which appeared often after I described real world and quite true organizational behaviors that this particular company has perpetrated on its employees, former employees, competition, non-profits and, worst of all, its users.
Most of the accidental recipients responded with a laugh and some wrote long notes in agreement with me but the level of professionalism on my part felt shattered for a few months. I use language like that on the blog and in my creative writing but business memos never contain any profanity unless it's in a documented quote from someone else.
I think everyone has sent emails to the wrong addresses and, sometimes, it's more embarrassing than others.
