Thanks David and all who responded to this thread. I’ll be visiting with my
friend tomorrow evening and we’ll see if we are able to resolve the issue. You
guys have given me some things to try!
Cheers,
Russell

Go to settings, general, accessibility, voiceover, speech. Select the voice.
Be where one has access to wifi. Select the enhanced voice (even if selected
is already stated). VoiceOver needs to download the enhanced voice again.
note: one of my devices required downloading the enhaqced voice three times
before it set properly. Enhanced voices are large, so they may be being
dumped when storage is low. Though, I needed to do the same thing when I
updated to iOS 8, so it may be some strange, occasional quirky bug.

Also just remembered that when I upgraded to IOS 10 my speaking rate was
bumped up crazy fast, could be that.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for that, but I think she already tried it. I'll confirm with her to
make sure though.
Thanks again,

They default to the non-enhanced voice, try changing to the enhanced voice.

Hi everyone,
A friend has an iPad, sorry I'm not sure which one. She just installed
the iOS 10 update. She uses the US English Samantha voice. Since the
update she is having trouble with the speech. She describes it as "it
sounds like Samantha has sucked some helium and has a bad cold". I use
the Australian voice on my iPhone 6S and have not experienced this issue.
I tried the US English voice on my iPhone 6S, and it really does sound
terrible. It's a little muffled and hard to understand at times.
Has anyone else had trouble since updating to iOS 10 with the US english
voices? If so, is there a fix?
Thanks,
Russeell
