Cheryl,

I'll have someone look at the label on the new keyboard but I checked it again
today online to be sure and the one I bought said it was the full keyboard for
macs but who knows. I'm just glad I have it working right now, as far as I can
tell.

Phil.

Hey, this looks pretty cool. I kind of hate to admit it but I kind of collect
keyboards and then can never decide which one to use permanently - lol! It
looks like they have both Windows and Mac layout keyboards and I wonder if you
got a Windows layout one. Can still be used but would explain the confusion
about hotkeys

Cheryl,

You are probably right. It is a Das keyboard which used a click style action
on the keys. They aren't cheap but my wife was a production transcriptionist
for over 40 years and I've been typing since age 12, I'm 63 and have weaker
hands now, too, and these keyboard have the best feel and positive keying
action I've ever seen in the 25 years I've been around the internet. Let me
check the website where they are sold and described. It is:

www.daskeyboard.com

Your description relates to the operator as the problem; not the keyboard,
haha. Once, today, I moved the mouse away from my keyboard so I wouldn't bump
it. Soon there after, I had no speech. I tried rebooting a few times but the
command plus F5 just was not working. I tried everything I could think of then
I realized something. I have new little speakers and there is a separate round
control for volume, balance, base, and treble. The mouse had bump the volume
down and I wasn't hearing anything as a result. Man, did I feel stupid after
all these years fiddling with computers from back in the DOS days no less. So,
that's why I'm calling it "Green Alerts." Thanks for your input.

Phil.

Hi Phil.

Probably this means you are using a keyboard where the keys are in a
different order than you might have thought. For instance, in a primarily
Windows keyboard, what is the alt key is the Mac's option key. If you press
control-option-k on the keyboard, you can explore and find out what different
keys are and then press escape to come out of the keyboard help. From your
description, I amr easonably sure that this is not an Apple keyboard and so the
keys are in a different order. Instead of command, option, control, you may
have option, command, control or something like that. Can you post for us what
keyboard this specifically is? This might be a Mac keyboard and you may have
been expecting the keys to be in a different order; it appears that what you
think is command is actually option and the one you are skipping is either
actually command or some other key.

By green alert, I mean, me. I just got my macmini up and running and am as
green as God's little green apples. Is there a conflict between keyboard when
using hot keys? I am using a so called 104 Mac keyboard, a keyboard with the
number pad on it, but unless I'm not following instructions letter by letter,
some hot keys on this keyboard aren't the same. However, when I plugged the
keyboard in, a keyboard assistant popped up, it told me a key to press and to
wait. Then it popped up and said, "Your keyboard has been recognized." My
wife is using the Mac Air so her keyboard, of course, is the style without a
number pad. I am going to get that smaller keyboard to try it and see, if the
problem of what sounds like different key commands, goes away, but I thought
I'd ask if anyone knew first. One hot key that comes to mind, for example, is
going to the Dock. I have to use command and control keys, skipping the option
key in the middle and even then, if I'm not in the right place, on the desktop
for example, I can't get to the Dock. Any help?

Phil.
