Hi CJ,
Thanks so much! So far, so good.
You know, Macs really do just ine for businesses. I’m tired of people
saying that the Mac is good for entertainment and consumption, but not o
business use. At an agency for wich I work part-time, people use he operating
system of their own choosing, and we all work just fine, together.
Thanks again, for this great tip. If this continues, I should be able to keep
this machine going until spring.
At least for now, my Mac is Back!
Now, it’s time for thankfulness and praise!

Suzanne,
I was experiencing some of the same issues, with my upgrade to Sierra. One
of the problems that occurs, when you upgrade to a new OS, is that the new
software is indexing everything—& I mean everything—on your HD for Spotlight
purposes. That takes several days, depending on the amount of data on your
drive.
Secondly, & more importantly for VoiceOver users, are the “Heavy Effects” on
the display. Search this list for the subject “lost Alex compact” & you’ll
find some messages between Cheryl & myself. There’s a link in one of my
MSG’s about a web article that details disabling these “Heavy Effects” in the
Accessibility/display & Dock areas of the Settings program. Once I made
these 5 changes, My Mac was back, even under Sierra. If you can’t find the
article, let me know & I’ll try & find the link. Hang in there, you can
resolve the issue.
Hope this helps,
CJ

Hi Listers,
Despite using Cocktail in the demo version, my computer is acting extremely
sluggish, and VoiceOver is often not working. Had a similar occurrence a
couple of months ago. Took it to the Apple Store, they ran a
diagnostic,,,,, reinstalled the OS, and it was okay but not great.
I upgraded to Siera, with no chnge.
Then, a bout two weeks ago, I installed Cocktail and it acted better
than it had been for quite some time. Then, it started actings sluggish
again, and today, VoiceOver has been almost non-existent. It will work for
a few syllables, then stop. It will act like it wants to say something but
can’t. Even if I do a cold reboot, VoiceOver does not come back immediately.
Very strange, indeed!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should have the Geniuses
look for?
Thanks so much! Sorry if this is more of a diagnostic question than a
strictly VoiceOver related one.
I am in business for myself, annd depend on my computer for work. I really
want this computer to last at least until spring.
I can use my iPhone for many things, but I ned access to soe files that are
on the computer.
Have a blessed weekend!
