First of all, if you are going to be working with GarageBand, please
take the time to download the GarageBand guides, from,
www.icanworkthisthing.com
under
MAC with voiceover, or, from,
www.lioncourt.com
You can copy and paste in GarageBand, from track to track, or, from,
project, to project by doing the following.
This may be most used when recording a podcast. Lets say you have
recorded an interview that you want to put in to your podcast. It has
been recorded on 1 track and the begining of the interview is at the
begining of the track and the end of the interview is clean.
Please take the time to record clean. Pleasetake the time to plan
your project. Know what you want it to sound like when you are done,
then plan the steps to make that happen. If you take the time to do
your project well and do each step the number of times that it takes
to get it right, the word "edit" will never cross your mind.
Now go to the track where you have your interview, podcast intro, or,
what ever it is you want to move and select all with command-a, then
after a few seconds, command-c to copy.
Now find your project and create a new real instrument track. Now
listen to your project until you find the place where you want your
copied information to be place, press the spacebar to stop your
project, then, command-v to paste, you're done.
By having information on separate tracks you can vary levels until it
sounds right.
Below is information on working with tracks.
You can select the track that you want to work with by doing the
following. First of all, click on show track info in the tracks menu
and in the track window, make sure that the show all button is
showing. Move to the scroll area. Voiceover does not tell you so,
but, this is where the tracks are located. Select a higher track with
up arrow and a lower track with down arrow. You can check your
selection, if you have named your track by moving to the right with VO
keys-right arrow where you should find the name of your track and
double check by soloing the track with s and then s again to go back
to full recording.
Lock your track with l and
unlock your track with l
You will want to lock your tracks so that you don't record over your
work.
Good recordings are hard work, but, the finished product will make you
smile.
