what is your system voice?

The interesting thing here is,

I have my system voice set to Bruce and when I uncheck the box the system voice speaks the date and time, but, when I check the box Alex speaks the date and time.

And like you David, I am surprised that any of the commands work with out the box being checked.

ditto, I wonder but don't want to try it if the problem will surface if the box is unchecked. What mystifies me is that the scripts work at all when the box is unchecked.

Ricardo,

I think you are on to something here.

I checked this box and I have never had the problem.

Hello,

You know I was having this exact same problem when i first installed snow leopard. I noticed that the problem seem to have stopped when I checked the option marked "allow voiceover to be controlled by apple scripts" which is found under general in vo settings. I'm not saying this is why the problem stopped but, it might be something to look into.

glad it has at least improved. keep us posted and drop a note to accessibility for they may have a better fix.

Hey David!!

Well, that does seem to have made it work a bit better. VO doesn't crash every time I press that keystroke now, but it still does once in a while. Thanks David!!

as soon as you ad a keystroke and press t it will be offered.

Yes, it does, at least most of the time, but it's quick to get it back, so it's not a big deal. I'm afraid if I delete the keystroke I won't know where to find the script to re-enable it again. Any idea where that script resides?

Thanks,

Russell

Thanks David! John's method gets speech right back, so I'll do it that way for now, but will keep your suggestion handy, as always! <smile>

Hi all,

I recently turned on keyboard commander, and am encountering a problem. Whenever I use the keystroke, VO T to read the current date and time, VO quits. The only way I found to get it back is to press command F5 repeatedly until, after about 5 or 6 presses, VO comes back. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution, other than not using the keystroke? <smile>

Thanks all,
