I think volume is okay as I can play and hear music. unfortunately wouldn’t you
know I’m traveling and don’t have the piece to connect ordinary earphone to an
iphone 8. And I think I’ve lost my airpods! Hopefully I have sighted friends
I’m seeing tomorrow who may ve avle to check volume.

speech is toggled off, or that your voiceover volume has somehow gone way down.
You could try putting your earphones in. If you still don't hear it, begin
turning the volume up with the earphones in and see if you eventually can hear
it. This all of course will only work if speech is toggled on.
