Bob,

Since you and your wife are having troubles with the new iOS 7, it
might be of help to write to accessibility@xxxxxxxxx voicing just these
concerns you've mentioned in this message to the list. They need to
hear it, in a respectful, thoughtful way, where the shortcomings in
accessibility in iOS 7 lie, and how they impact what you do.

There are, clearly, accessibility bugs in the new iOS, and part of
that may just be the price of software development, and unfortunately,
some of it might be that, like it or not, Tim Cook is no Steve Jobs.

If need be, when you write to Apple, I'd make mention of the fact that
you might be seriously leaning towards the MicroSoft products, or an
Android. It may not make a huge difference, in the grand scheme of
things, but most large, multi-billion dollar corporations do understand
market share, bottom line, etc.

I hope your trip to the Apple store is fruitful, and you can downgrade
to iOS 6, and here's hoping Apple is responsive to the blindness
community, and fixes the bugs known about thus far.

Take care,

Ron J.
