I do this all the time, but what I had to do was get the music into
the itunes library on the computer first an then itunes would put it
on the phone, they have changed the way it works over the years, so I
am not sure it would work any other way. the other question is how
did the music get on the phone in the first place?

I have an iPhone 6 128
G which I would like to back up to a Macboook Air 2019. I can “sync,” the
phone through iTunes, but my music refuses to show up on the Air. The only
content that seems to transfer is what little I purchased through ITunes.
Is there anywhere out there a podcast or tutorial that discusses how to do
this? The iPhone 6 won’t upgrade past IOS12.4.1, and the Air is running the
latest Mojave. Please help, this is driving me quite mad...
