I don't have a TV, just a digital converter box. Its a device that allows you to get digital TV on an old analog TV. About a year ago, the government was sending out coupons so you could get $20 off when you purchased one.
I figure that as people buy digital TVs, these boxes will become a glut on the market. I'm sure people will be giving them away soon.

Interesting. Did you have to plug into the satellite box on your TV at all? I have a TV tuner on my Mac Mini and at night, am able to listen to local TV that way. I figured it out. I'm now listening to TV via my Mac. Here's what I did:1. Bought a digital converter box with audio out jacks. I haven't seen one yet that didn't have audio out but if you're going to try this, better check. 2. Bought a RCA to 3mm stereo cable. Actually, I already have about 10 of these. But they can be had at any Radio Shack for about $5.3. Connected audio out on converter box to line-in on Mac mini.At this point I was kind of stuck for a while. I knew it should work because I made a Skype test call and was able to hear the TV when Skype played back the call. Yet, I couldn't figure out how to get MacOS to play the line-in feed out through the speakers. Turns out you can't. You need to download a program to do that. So...4. Download and install: http://www.pure-mac.com/audio.html#lineinThis program allows you to configure your mac to play back through the speakers whatever is coming in on line-in.Bingo, done!Click on the link below to go to our homepage. http://www.icanworkthisthing.com Manage your subscription by using the web interface on the link below. //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceoverUsers can subscribe to this list by sending email to macvoiceover-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by logging into the Web interface at //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceoverClick on the link below to go to our homepage. http://www.icanworkthisthing.com Manage your subscription by using the web interface on the link below. //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceoverUsers can subscribe to this list by sending email to macvoiceover-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the Subject field OR by logging into the Web interface at //www.freelists.org/list/macvoiceover
