Yeah, I kind a noticed that about selecting in a row, is the cursor tracking off, vo down arrow, vo command space the only way to select if they are not in a row, or is there another easier way.

To select multiple items in a row, just hold down shift, and arrow down (or up) until you have all the items you want selected. It doesn't read them though, so you'll need to count beforehand, so you know how many to highlight.
