It's my understanding that you can only pair your keyboard with one device at a
time. So you have to tell your ipad or iPhone to forget the device to pair it
with your computer and you have to delete it from your computer to use it with
your iPhone or iPad. This isn't a really difficult process but it is an extra
step. Ideally, if you can afford to get a second Apple wireless keyboard, this
would be the easiest route but certainly you can switch your keyboard as I've
described. I use my old-style bluetooth Apple keyboard with my mac mini, use
the keyboard dock with my iPad, and use my up-to-date wireless keyboard with my
iPhone. I don't like the new wireless keyboard very well with my computer
because of the lack of a numpad and the lack of a control key on the right side
(what I'll do when my old bluetooth keyboard dies I really don't know!!!) But
the newer Apple wireless keyboard is fine with my iPhone since I'm not using
vokeys for anything on the iPhone anyway. Btw it appears that you can use the
keyboard dock with the upgraded iPhone though I'm not sure whether or not this
is officially sanctioned. Do note that if you don't have your iPad or iPhone
seated correctly you'll get a message that your device doesn't support this
accessory. I was really puzzled when I got this message with the iPad but it
was apparently because I didn't have the iPad seated quite securely in the dock.
