Well, I personally never got very comfortable with the new keyboard. It was
like night and day when I got my 2015 model and I just was amazed what a
difference this made for me in writing speed and avoiding mistakes.
And I personally always felt a bit on edge with the touch bar of my former 2017
machine. I didn’t use it that much and I once did get in slight worry when I
set up my mac again and the sound went off. I just didn’t find a way to get it
back again and I thought that things could be easier if I had real hardware
function keys. I was stuck with my braille display and did get the job done
eventually :-)
I went for 512GB as well. Hope your 2018 MBP will work well for many years.

Actually, the issue with the 2015 thru 2017 MacBook Pro keyboards
wasn’t that they’re too narrow, but rather, that Apple neglected to place a
thin, silicone membrane under each key, between the keycap and the butterfly
mechanism. The 2018 models do have this membrane. According to the folks at
iFixIt, these new MBPs are far more tolerant of dust, dirt, etc, but in extreme
cases, will still stop working. That said, the 2018 MBP keyboards are much
more reliable.
The new MBPs do have a trade-off, however. Previous models (2015
thru 2017), had a port on the SSD, which allowed Apple to retrieve user data in
the event of a logic board failure. The 2018 models no longer have this port,
so it’s mandatory that you back up your important data as, in the event you
have a logic board failure, Apple can’t retrieve it. Everyone should backup
their data, anyway, but with the 2018 models, this is especially important!
I have the 2018 model, with Touch Bar, mainly because I wanted the
512GB SSD, instead of the 256GB machine.

enjoy it. But if you go for a laptop I wouldn't buy one with the new
butterfly keyboard. Because it's known that these keyboards are built to
narrow so that a bit of dust and grime can make them unusable for real work.
If you get a MacBook air, a MacBook Pro from 2015 or even a bigger mac
computer you won't have this problem.
I tell you this because I didn't know and no one told me when I bought my
first Macbook Pro, a model with touch bar from 2017. After a few months I
got my nasty surprise and had to pay some more to get a model from 2015.
This said, I really want you to know that I'm happy now and I love how a mac
works. One of many great things is that you can setup or get your mac
working again without sighted help. Much much better solved than under
windows.
