Hi marie,

There are a couple of exceptions to the first two but you are 100 percent dead on with number three which as you say, we've already discussed.

This is an excellent topic for the vo list because it gets to the heart of vo use.

you state in part:
"1. automatic reading of a webpage.".
This can be handy for folk who read a lot of long text pages and for those with limitted mobility etcetera.

"2. voice over hints. I know what to do in a text area, especially when it already says edit text." This is actually a good feature because there are some situations where it is not intuitive to the new user. It took me back a bit but I can see its usefullness.

Whether you are a new computer user or new to the mac, surely, there is some potential benefit to the two above features.

well, this is purely my opinion but 3 features that horribly remind me of windows are as follows.
1. automatic reading of a webpage.
2. voice over hints. I know what to do in a text area, especially when it already says edit text. 3. insertion point. this has been discussed, it's counter intuitive and doesn't teach the vi community how it would look to sighties.

all I can say is I'm so glad these features are optional. they are just horrific and no one can tell me that it will help progression from windows to mac. I didn't have these features and I am so glad I did. mac is not windows, when will people realise this.

overall vo rocks even more in this version, and I am grateful to apple for giving us a choice. really glad.
