Hi Lena,
I too like overcast.
I was using downcast but it started crashing.
I have recently heard a rumour that the developer of downcast is redesigning
the app.
Does anyone know if this might be true?
I do really like overcast.
It is very very good I think it has great sound for the fast speeds and I love
how it syncs.

Hi Lena. You can refresh manually by swiping with three fingers placed on the
touch screen and swipe downwards. Like you would if you were scrolling
through say the contacts app. This can be done from the main screen or in a
playlist of your choosing. However, if you do want to manually refresh, I
would recommend making sure you are at the top of podcasts or playlist first
before performing the action.
The word queue, is just another way of saying creating an up next playlist.
Personally, if your happy with just the one playlist and that works for you,
then I wouldn't bother with the queue playlist.
Saying that, it might be handy in the future in case you received a bunch of
podcast episodes and you wanted to listen to some episodes in no particular
order but picked four from podcast one but two from podcast three in your
list.
I hope that makes sense. It's easier to understand in context, how queuing
episodes works by trying it out yourself rather than trying to write how you
would use it.
Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying overcast and that you are getting through
podcasts a little quicker because you are right in that assumption. It's a
feature called smart speed and you might want to check out voice boost for
the odd podcasts that you feel are quieter should you feel the need of that
function of the app.
If I may ask, have you created an account with the app? I say this because
with an account, your podcasts sync across all your devices. You'll get push
notifications and probably a lot more things besides the two I mentioned that
the app does better with an account. That's why I never manually sync because
for me, it just works.
Been using the app for three years now and its just gotten better for me over
that time.
Anyway, let me know if you have any more questions and I'll try and do my
best to answering them.
Happy overcasting!!!
Daniel

I have switch from using downcast to overcast to listen to my podcasts. I
was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on using this app. What do
you use the cued option four? I have set a playlists and don't particularly
see the need for the queuing function. Also, is there a way to make the app
refresh my podcast feed manually? I know on the down cast app there was a
refresh button that I could push it anytime I felt like refreshing my
podcast feed. I am enjoying the speed options of overcast. I think it plays
faster than downcast us.
