Thank you David and John for your feedback.
I'm just looking for something that does decent OCR, and nothing else. As long as I can use the OCR engine to recognize pdf immage files and to scan mail, that's all I want.

DocuScan Plus is worth the money if you really need a solution and are willing to pay the $299. It's not K1000 as far as features go, but it gets the job done quite well. I have scanned eight books now with it and the results have been quite remarkable.

There is Abby FineReader as a lower cost solution or, VueScan for an even less expensive one. It comes down to your needs and what you are willing to pay. Also, results will, of course, vary from person to person. VueScan, for example, does not seem to get the results for me that it does for others.

Finally, you do have the Boot Camp option as well. However, to me, surrendering to Windows is not something I have needed to do for myself. Nevertheless, that is an option that can easily be set up.

I think the subject says it all. I see several cheeper OCR solutions on the app store, but didn't know if the Serotek product would be worth paying $299 for. It's a lot less than Openbook or Kurzweil 1000 I know, but I'm always looking to save money where I can. I've also considered the BootCamp or fussion options, since I have Openbook, but I'm not advanced enough for that at this time.

Thanks,
Scott
