oh, ok. maybe I misread. I was udner the impression that it would turn it on and off after the initial setup. Oddly enough in the initial setup, I didn't even have to do that, it just kind a turned on and stayed on. Go figure. LOL!

Take care.

Chris.

I only know that it turns it on first boot, not that it is for a toggle. the user guide unfortunately does not speak to this but experience shows that it does not act as a toggle and no one said it did. what was said that if vo is not working when you first start apple tv, press the menu button three times. I don't know why it doesn't work for you but it works for everyone else I have seen do it.

Oh, let me clarify. I wasn't as specific admittedly as I should a been.

For one thing, there is no universal access setting. It's settings, then general, accessibility, then voiceover, and you toggle it on/off. No universal access. Having said this though, he lies the problem. It's not that voiceover's not on, I have vo talking and working. My thing is, what I was trying to say was if I tripple click the menu button on the remote to toggle it on/off, that never works for me.

if you have someone sighted around, see if they can go into settings, universal access and turn vo on.

Nope, just tried again just to be sure I was not doing something stupid, and I'm definitely nhot. I trippled clicked the menu key on the remote. All I hear are the little bell bloof sounds 3 times and it saying in main menu, top movies.

I don't get it. Yeah, the firmware's totally up to date, so, yeah, I'm baffled. This really is somewhat bizarre, or am I missing something here.

By tripple clicking, I basically am saying Im doing like you would on an IPod or IPhone with the home key.

Hi there,
That sounds absolutely fabulous. May I ask you how the unit is activated so the blind can use it? Is there a key combination that is used to get the unit to talk?

Does anyone here know of a mailing list that is chiefly devoted to Apple TV? I have just gotten a unit working here and love it. It is fully accessible to blind people and you can find lots of interesting podcasts and radio shows from the internet in hundreds of categories, involving thousands of streams. It's the most amazing collection of listening from all kinds of sources! I am just beginning to learn about this program, and of course there are also hundreds or thousands of video streams available, everything from You Toob to recent movies and TV shows, many free, but much that costs a fee, such as Netflix and many other offerings through I Tunes.

If such an Apple TV mailing list doesn't exist then one needs to be set up. I would do so but have not run a list in over 6 years and am probably not the best one also as I am an older guy and suspect someone younger might do a more dependable job!
