Hey all, I have found a nice little app that can turn off the mac startup sound
should one so desire. It is called StartNinja google it and you should find it.
Unfortunatly I don't know if it will work for snow leopard or previous versions
but I do know it works for Lion which is the OS I have.
Anyway for what its worth to me it seemed fully accessible with Voiceover.
Install the app through the normally manner open it and you will see the
following. Get current settings which is a button followed by an image which
has no help tag. This is where you get to the two radio buttons which are
simply On and Off. That's basically it there is an unlabelled button or it
might be two but I just want to to draw your attention to a thing I didn't
discover. This is that when you 1st open the app, 1st of all hit the Get
current settings button this will ask you for your password type it in then
check the radio button called Off. The reason I'm saying all this is because at
1st I just asumed that oh I can just turn it off that didn't work so I then
turned it back on. Trying both these didn't turn off the chine until I hit that
button. Once I did that and then turned it off the chine was gone!
My reason for mentioning this little app is because if you are like me and know
nothing about terminal and scared to issue any commands in that environment in
case you mess up your computer and you want to get rid of the chine for some
reason or another then this app might be for you.

Hope I have helped someone if not then just ignore this message completely!
