Dear MAASE Members
Fifteen days before Christmas and all through the State
The administrators were gathered, they just couldn?t wait
The registrations were acknowledged by Tony with care,
In recognition of the MAASE date no one thought would be there.
The presenters were planning their thoughts in their heads,
While tough ?SLD questions? caused them to dread.
Then Mark in his pressed shirt, and slacks from the Gap,
Was working so hard that he needed a nap.
When 4:30 arrived there arose quite a chatter,
Folks sprang from their seats to Aurora to gather.
Off to the doorways they flew like a flash,
Pushing past others and reaching for ca$h!
The Charity Auction was starting up soon and
Mike Bevins? voice began filling the room.
When, what to the wandering eyes should appear,
But hundreds of gifts to spread holiday cheer.
With a little quick thinking and extra cash on the side
I knew in a moment the time had arrived.
More rapid than timelines expiring they came,
And he laughed, and shouted, and called members by name!
"Now Kathy! now, Susan! now, Linda and Ann!
On, Laurie! On Lucy, on Tom and on Jan!
Take a right in the hallway! Make a left at the wall!
Find a seat at the tables there is plenty for all!"
As beverages are pouring and cheese is consumed,
We are decidedly happy and filling the room.
So around all the tables the membership sat,
With their colleagues and friends all eager to chat.
It would be just a minute till the moment of truth
Could it really have happened, and it wasn?t a goof?
As I tilted my head, and was turning around,
The Auction had raised an amount quite profound!
But what was the charity of choice going to be?
As anticipation grew, everyone looked on with glee!
Then a bundle of cash was awarded in kind
By friends and colleagues having a good time.
Note: Your invitation is attached and the poem author will be introduced at
the auction!
