Subject: Michigan ASCD - Help Save K-12 Funding
The threat of the legislature raiding the School Aid Fund is SERIOUS. Leadership in both chambers, the Governor, and the Senate Appropriations Chair are looking to use School Aid dollars to offset the state's general fund deficit. The time is now for our elected officials to be strong and stand up for K-12 education!
We need you to do two things NOW!
- Representative Terry Brown, House Chair of the School Aid Appropriations Subcommittee, has drafted a letter calling for the Legislature and Governor to oppose the transfer or appropriation of School Aid Fund dollars away from K-12 public schools. Call your lawmakers and urge them to indicate their support by signing Representative Brown's letter.Click here to access talking points and contact information for your state representative
- Create a CRITICAL MASS! Recently we sent you an alert asking you to email your lawmakers and urge them to take a stance opposing any transfer or appropriation of School Aid Fund dollars away from K-12. The response rate was about 18%. While many of you may have sent an alert outside of the legislative alert system, please forward this alert to your grassroots network. If you have not sent the alert, please click here to do so now.
