Earlier this year I took a look at developing a hosted anthology show sort of
like the Twilight Zone. Each episode would feature a short subject, either
horror or sci fi.
Indie movie producers out there in the field are churning out tens of thousands
of short horror and sci fi films using no name actors, and many of them are
surprisingly very good. Some are even outstanding.
So I approached dozens of these unknown indie film makers with the proposal of
including their short film in this anthology show. The show would be hosted by
a professional Rod Serling actor in a sharp suit...that kind of deal. I offered
each indie producer a share of revenue...and full credits.
And almost universally I was turned down. Many producers wanted $10,000 or more
for permission to air their 17 minute movie. Some people even called me a con
man for offering a revenue share.
Content is hard. Very hard.
GOOD content is even harder.
