Locast is now streaming broadcast stations in 25 U.S. television markets after
adding Wilkes Barre / Scranton, Pennsylvania and Indianapolis, Indiana. The
service is a non-profit that asks viewers for donations and uses a carve out in
the FCC rules originally created for TV translators - a rule that Locast says
makes them exempt from paying broadcasters for their signals.
I've noticed in a few markets Locast does have a small amount of LPTV channels
on, Atlanta for example. Perhaps as they continue to grow they will add more
LPTV stations to their lineups.
