Yes, I get those requests, too. This happens when Rabbit Ears doesn't
have someone in your area that can grab a copy of your transport stream off
the air. In San Francisco, for instance, there are some TV enthusiasts
that Rabbit Ears will ask for them to grab copies of stations' transport
streams to be able to populate the Rabbit Ears database. My full power TV
station is way up at the top of the San Francisco market in rural Mendocino
County. There is no "go to guy" there that they can ask for a copy of the
transport stream, so they ask me. I told them that once the snow melts and
I can make it up to the site, then when I go on a maintenance run, then
I'll also grab a copy of the transport stream. I send an mp4 stream up to
the site and then re-encode up at the site, so I don't have access to the
transport stream at my studio. I can monitor remotely with Slingplayer to
make sure the picture is watchable. I have an unusual full power TV
station that only reaches a few tens of thousands of people via its main
transmitter, but yet it is in a top 10 TV market. The viewership of the
station is via its translator stations and via Dish, DirecTV, Uverse, and
cable TV.

On another note, speaking of rabbit ears.
I was contacted the other day and asked to install this software somehow
at the transmitter site so they can “see” our signal.
Anyone else get this request and what are the pros and cons, if any?

Honestly surprised the FCC doesn’t require this so they can keep an eye on
everyone from afar.

This is not accurate. RabbitEars assumes an antenna at 13 feet, not 30
feet. Additionally, the legend at the top right indicates what each color

transmitter. Let's also suppose you look at the coverage map on Rabbit Ears
and your house where the indoor antenna is smack dab in the green.
Should you be able to pick up the channel relatively easily? Or do LPTV
stations require outdoor antennas as a general rule?
