There are also a number of holiday-themed public domain movies and TV shows out
there to air if you program your own channel.
Like:
Scrooge (1935)
The Great Rupert
Beyond Christmas
Penny Serenade
Santa Claus vs. The Martians (and the even cheesier Santa Claus vs. The Devil!!)
TV shows:
Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet - Christmas Memories
Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet - The Busy Christmas
Gruen Guild Theater - Joe Santa Claus
The Jack Benny Program - Christmas Shopping Show
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - The Case of the Christmas Pudding
Petticoat Junction - Cannonball Christmas
The Beverly Hillbillies - Christmas With the Clampetts
The Three Stooges - Malice in the Palace
Cartoons:
The Little Christmas Burro (30 minutes)
Hector's Hectic Life - Christmas
Betty Boop - Parade of Wooden Soldiers
Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (10 minute cartoon)
There are probably a lot more, but this is what I have in my library. Let me
know if anyone needs copies.

Typically I've done a couple of Holiday concerts each year (college and area
symphony) as well as the Christmas Parade. The 10 second Holiday greeting
ads are really easy to sell and knock out... something like this:

Yes, we usually do ads for the Christmas parade as well. We usually do lower
thirds or have the commentators do audio mentions / read advertisement while
the parade is going on or break in the parade, and we run reruns of it as
well many times leading up to Christmas and on Christmas day. We actually
just did our live parade tonight and streamed on YouTube, Facebook, and live
on tv at same time.

Holiday greetings always a great idea Gil, and usually very ez sale.
The city here paid us pretty well to do produce and air the Christmas
parade. We cant run sponsors on the live version because they want it
commercial free , BUT we do sell a great sponsor package for a few REPLAYS
between now and new years.. We just add the sponsors on a scroll that rolls
sev times during the replays.
We also bundle in a generous amount of 'promos' where we advertise the
replay times on our TV channels, online, and our radio stations with
'brought to you buy' on them lots of exposure for the businesses & EZ sell.
But generally all local things are ez to sell if you find the right people
connected to the event by one means or another... kids, friends, etc.
People want people to know their business is LOCALLY owned & community
involved. Nothing says 'local' like being on 'local' media ; )

We always do a cheap 10 second holiday greeting. We either create something
or go to the business and they stand in front of the camera and wish
everyone a happy holidays or whatever they want to say in 10 seconds. We mix
it with 2 other businesses and run it in a :30 second block. Price it fairly
cheap, but run it thru new years and we usually get in a a few thousand
extra dollars for it.

Happy December!
Now that it's December, does anyone in the group have any Holiday
programming, sales or promotion ideas they would like to share?
