Rick, have you tried KDENLive? It's open source and pretty slick. I'm not
sure if it preserves captions...I think it does but I'm not positive. But
it's open source and free so you could download it and try without costing
you anything.

I have Videoredo and it just isn't as handy as Womble. No title overlay and
not as easy to edit the video. Also womble was nice because of audio
normalization.

Haven't used it in a while, but you might want to check out Adobe Premiere.
You don't buy the program now, you pay by the month. Premiere Pro is $21 /
month if you pay for a year, or $31.49 billed monthly.
I'm a mac guy and use Final Cut Pro and Compressor for editing and encoding
needs, although these are older versions.

I was looking at that this morning and is says the TVSuite Ver 6 does NTSC
608 for $95.99 and the professional version does 608 & 708 but their
software does not do CG so it kill it for me to do titles on Music videos.

Has anybody tried any of the VideoRedo products? Supposedly, all data is
left intact. There are trial versions.

OK, so either no one edits videos or it is a super trade secret.

What are most folks using these days to edit DVD’s to mpeg files for air.
I found out and confirmed Womble does not pass closed caption. Not looking
for anything fancy, just quick, easy, CG overlay and pass closed caption.
