Maureen,
Not true! Public Domain is public domain, at least as it stands today. No one
has any more rights than another.

Subject: [lptv] Re: Beverly Hillbillies
What about the high power station saying that they have first rights over shows
they clear for broadcast; and any LPTV's cannot air the ones' they've cleared,
while the high power is airing them. Because high power has special rights
over the airways (not per say the show), but if they cleared something to air,
an LPTV has to wait or not ever air the same shows. They have the cleared
broadcast rights, over an LPTV station. be produced by the LPTV; they would
have to find out if the high power is airing or not first. I think it sounds
like not true. It's really hard to believe their is a law like that.
What does anybody know about that? Is there any truth to it!

Yes, but Barney Fife, Aunt Bee, Gomer, and Goober did not appear in that
episode.
So by your theory, yes, Danny Thomas' estate might own the rights to the Andy
Taylor character, but the others belong to CBS.
Hard to find an episode that doesn't have one of those characters in it.

An issue with that ruling that I wonder is why it was never disputed is that
the actual pilot episode to Andy Griffith is owned by the Danny Thomas estate
As that pilot episode aired as part of his show. CBS paramount does not own the
rights to the Danny Thomas show.

I would think that entirely depends on who owns the original copyright? Did
all those TV shows license the music to BMI or ASCAP?

Subject: [lptv] Re: DTS rule change I heard a LPTV was threatened by
a nearby high power, that hecouldn't air the same program that a high power
station was airing. Andhe was complaining about Beverly Hillbillies for crying
out loud. TheLPTV just took them off to avoid trouble. But, this sounds
over-the-topto me. I remember turning on every channel playing the same

Anyoneknow about that, High Power TV Station has exclusive rights when airing
