Do a Google search for "syndication exclusivity" and this might be what they're
talking about. But I highly doubt this has any merit in regards to Public
Domain programming as what syndicator would be granting first run rights?

What about the high power station saying that they have first rights over

have the cleared broadcast rights, over an LPTV station. be produced by the

I think it sounds like not true. It's really hard to believe their is a law
like that.
What does anybody know about that? Is there any truth to it!

Yes, but Barney Fife, Aunt Bee, Gomer, and Goober did not appear in that

So by your theory, yes, Danny Thomas' estate might own the rights to the Andy

Hard to find an episode that doesn't have one of those characters in it.

An issue with that ruling that I wonder is why it was never disputed is that

As that pilot episode aired as part of his show. CBS paramount does not own
the rights to the Danny Thomas show.

I would think that entirely depends on who owns the original copyright? Did

With the Beverly Hillbillies shows that are PD, they must also be shown
without the real opening or closing theme songs. The real PD versions have
alternate instrumental music in place of the real theme.

Rick, that is the correct assessment.
Interestingly the same rule applies to all the other shows thought to be in
the PD: Beverly Hillbillies, Bonanza, the Superman cartoons, etc.

In reading it, it appears there were copyrighted shows before and after
the 16 “PD” Andy Griffith shows, thus the plot, characters and locations
were set in the previous copyrighted material and only new plot, characters

lawyer, if those 16 episodes where the “First” 16 episodes, copyright could
not have been claimed.

I heard a LPTV was threatened by a nearby high power, that he couldn't air
the same program that a high power station was airing. And he was
complaining about Beverly Hillbillies for crying out loud. The LPTV just
took them off to avoid trouble. But, this sounds over-the-top to me. I
remember turning on every channel playing the same shows, different episodes
maybe, but either Law and Order or NCIS. A fresh unique ensemble of
programs would be welcome to the communities. Anyone know about that, High
Power TV Station has exclusive rights when airing PD.

Hi Jon,
This will help some LPTVs and hurt some LPTVs. LPTVs can be squeezed out by
full power stations. Some LPTVs can use this expand coverage.
I wonder if this would allow some LPTVs to gain cable carriage by adding a
second DTS transmitter within 35 miles of the cable headend.

I saw this article and curious whether this will have any effect on LPTV? As
LPTV service is secondary, could this push some LPTV stations to move or
