Rick;
Why not, decide not to delete the group of network owners who work faithfully
with LPTV groups and work hard at finding the best and newest programming out,
even edit for hours to restore or create a made for tv version or find a last
copy in Holland somewhere that would have never hit the TV circuit without
their hours of research and effort. They can create the blocks for you put
their ads in for the quarter' and send out every other month in advance, send
in any last minute commercials that are too good to leave out. And that would
still be a programmers dream, except even more so. You have no idea how long
it takes to get some of that programming and searching in files after files
going through many titles, sometimes over 300 to get 20 good programs cleared
and then 10 out of those with restored copies. It is not all peaches and
cream. Just seems that way, because all of a sudden PDs pop up from nowhere,
(someone else worked hard to find them for you) and I'm talking good PD, not
the "singing cowgirl" or well I'm not saying that's horrible, but be for real.
It's a millennial generation and you need networks, just like they need you.
Work together, and feed more family bellies, not be greedy. For good service
and a 50-50 split on air sales on their programming; keep your local news and
local shows. Collaborate. Don't act like the conglomerates that devour
America and ruin the normal American who also has a dream, to provide for his
or her family, and the families they employ and so on. The more we try to not
work together, and cut out each other, the more the real American Dream Dies.
It will never be or make America Great Again.

Let’s take up the debate about the 3 hour schedule. When LivePD was on, I
would watch it faithfully. I would start to get bored toward theend of the 3
hours but some nights I would watch the replay which occurred rightafter which
was a feat for a guy my age. Then it hit me one day. Very, very fewpeople will
watch a single channel for more than 3 hours. The only time isnormally during a
serious news event and even that is changing almost everyminute. Even people
who watch videos do not do it more than 3 hours.
So why not create a 3 hour block and repeat it. Then, no matterwhen you tune
in, you can watch the whole thing in three hours and either go dosomething else
or move to another channel. By doing that you can pick the bestof the best and
specialize your channel. So you can have a classic comedy, classic detective,
classic, adventure, etc. With movies I would do a 6 hourblock.
It would be a programmers dream. Pick the best shows andeither send them way
ahead or the day before in an Mpeg4 encoding. Qualitywould be superior to tight
compression satellite or internet and no digitizing. The station has to have a
way to play commercials and the cost of a server isless than a satellite
receiver and no dish or mega high speed internetrequired. You could do it with
a T1 1.5 Mbit line. You acting like a DVR foryour viewers. And there is a good
chance at least once a day everyone in yourcommunity is going to watch.
So what is the down side in doing this?
