I just checked my database and discovered the White Peacock Cameron
sightings are a new parish record. First sightings in the western portion of
the State! Congrats to Paul and Rosemary.

Sulfurs, Long-tailed Skippers, Clouded Skippers and numerous other butterflies.
As I was driving out, a large whitish butterfly flew down the road ahead of
me. It wasn't flying like the other Cloudless Sulfurs nor was it a bright
yellow like all the others I'd seen during the day. In the time it took for me
to reach for binoculars it had flown high up into a tree and for a few seconds
perched on a dead twig. I got binoculars on it (through the windshield) long
enough to tell that it was large, whitish with a greenish tint, did not have
rounded wings and the wings were heavily veined. Definitely not a Cloudless
Sulfur or Great Southern White. It flew higher and took off. I parked, got my
camera and searched for over an hour but could not relocate it. So no photo.
The woods are full of lantana and other nectar sources. It could be anywhere.
Anyone in the area be on the lookout.
Today at Willow Island, I saw and photographed 2 White Peacocks. Later I ran
into Paul Conover who had seen 3 and alerted Phillip. I had no wi-fi the
entire time I was on the coast.
