I’m playing catch up from having been out of the office for over a week and so
am reading emails rather quickly, but I gather the GSW note below is
significant owing to it being a parish record. Anyway, for what it’s worth, in
my 48 years I have never seen GSWs in the middle of New Orleans like I have for
the past 2 months. I talking about 3 to 5 spotted each day just driving the 4
mile from my home uptown to the Insectarium downtown. And this has been going
on since mid-May. Quite impressive!

Had one (GSW) at the U-U church in Alexandria with Jackie Duncan once, and
mentioned it to Gary Ross as unusual

I failed to mention that while on the way back from Dove Field, we saw a Great
Southern White along the roadside of State Road 463. I stopped and netted it to
confirm it was a large male, somewhat tattered. After its release, it was last
seen heading toward the sign designating the parish line between Vernon and
Rapides Parishes. Dr. Allen has documented previous GSW's at his place in
Vernon Parish, but I have no prior reports from Rapides Parish. Dave Patton
advised on Saturday there have been good numbers of this white in Cameron
Parish recently.

My son, Brett, and I drove to Dove Field this morning, walking around from
10:00 to 12:30. It was actually pleasant initially but was getting really hot
when we left. There's a lot blooming including verbena, pale cone flowers, wild
liatris, yellow cone flowers and a yellow composite with a yellow center. There
were large numbers of Little Yellows and Swarthy Skippers.
