I am leading the walk this coming week.
We meet on 29th September 2022 in The Shoulder of Mutton car park at Worral at
the usual time of 10 am. I have permission for us to park in the spacious car
park.
To find it you motor out along Loxley Road from Malin Bridge and turn right
shortly after the Admiral Rodney and up along the aptly named Long Lane. When
you arrive at the end of Long Lane at Worral the pub should be visible right in
front of you. For any short-sighted souls, you go straight on at the exit of
Long Lane and the pub is on the right. I have permission for us to park in the
spacious car park.
N.B. Rails road is closed but I wouldn't recommend coming that way anyway. If
coming that way go on to Malin Bridge and take the road to Loxley.
The walk will take us on the southside of the ridge via a strangely familiar
path and then there will be a bit of a climb and road walking till we get to
the nunnery. From there things get potentially a bit muddy. Indeed, so muddy
that the path is effectively impassable in really wet weather. Quite a lot of
the walk involves going across freshly ploughed fields. There is a lovely wood
and wonderful views. The temperature difference on either side of the ridge is
quite significant, so the first bit of the walk will probably be warmer than
the second bit.
I have the purse. I think we should make it £3 again this week so that the
kitty has a bit of contingency.
Hope to see you there,
Best wishes,
Chris C
