Who knew.  AAnd I haven't had my chimney cleaned in three years (we  heat the 
house w/ the woodstove.)

okay. "me" is me.  that's a pix of me on the roof.

a "spark arrestor" is a wire mesh box  that you put on top of a chimney. If 
sparks come up 
the chimney, the mesh  traps them. otherwise they fly out and possibly (a 
very slight chance) 
land  somewhere and start a fire.
