Has it that "speranza" retains two of the of the turds emitted by Pears during
a profound seminars that proved that nobody is deceived by anything, yet
another imbecile proved that nobody can have a dream.
There are to my knowledge to "ryleans" ryle who Is mercifully resting, and one
who is alive since the second case is a personal private friendship, nihil nisi

As is speranza's wont speranza says nothing, nothing on chunking. The theory's
being tested that the title of Frankfurt minor opus was directed at the views
espoused by p valev and speranza

the indication by the psychologist (S. Pinker) on what makes for the jargon of
“managers” and “execuityves etc are excellent.
. such lingoes are utter bullshit, to be sure, the point is that they think in
those terms, they do not deceive others, they only deceive themselves in
thinking they did their jobs the process is known to linguistics as chunking

This may relate to this passage from the review of Pinker's book on "The sense
of style" in the NYT:

"But Pinker also acknowledges that the transparency of classic style — the
window part — is a bit of an illusion. Words aren’t the same thing as
the
objects or feelings they describe. They’re intractable sometimes, and only
loosely approximate the thoughts we want them to convey."

This might evoke a Wittgensteinian reflection by McEvoy. Oddly, for Gilbert
Ryle, 'thinking' is a ghost in a machine.

And one wonders what Ryle would say about 'chunking'.

It seems that the model Pinker is working, for a Rylean, is simplistic, or
rather, dualist.

Take 'bull', which Palma uses: is this a concept that applies to language, or
_thought_? (Metaphorically. We know what it applies to LITERALLY).

The fragment by Palma raises the question about self-deception. This, as D. F.
Pears has pointed out (in his many essays in "Philosophical
Psychology") is a trick. Perhaps Freud did deceive his self into thinking that
OTHERS did?!

Cheers,

Speranza
