Ratings, maybe?  People don't want to hear bad news.  They want to be
entertained and to know that God loves them.  As an aside, I recently
learned that newspapers are among the most profitable industries going,
with returns 4 and 5 times that of most industries.  Like pharma, they
cloak themselves in ideals while in fact they are huge money making
machines with one mission: to please shareholders.

Our representatives, among others, will be happy to hear the real reason
why they exploit the public.  Michael Moore.  Michael Moore's documentaries
make them do it.  How do you know Michael's not on their payroll ?  BTW, 60
Minutes has been doing exposes for decades.  A lot of good  they've done. 
When malicious behavior is brought to light, people fight tooth and nail
for their right to be exploited.  I seem to remember a discussion rigiht
here in River City regarding pharma ...
