The known claim of the indifference of the tao was taken up by the English 
author (J Gray), Gray even used the term straw dogs, which is a keyword for the 
irrelevance of humans (straw dogs are puppets to be burned, the term entails 
none of the idiocies of animal rights self styled theorists)
The dao is many, many, many thousdands if not hundreds of thousands of 
characters, though a vast majority, for what that counts, of my Chinese 
students claim to have understood all of it very quickly
