(3) Doable? Crushing Saddam's military was always going to be a piece of cake―exactly the kind of combat that the US military is superbly trained and equipped for.

Using the US Army to crush Iraq was ludicrous. Like using bulldozers to crush peace activists.

The US Army was trained and equipped to fight large scale land wars against China, Russia, and North Korea.

The Iraq Army was a mess of poorly-trained, ill-equipped, mislead conscripts with low morale. Claiming a military victory in those conditions was pure propaganda. A pack of Girl Scouts could have done just as well.

An army must constantly practice how to coordinate and carry out a massive war. Spending their time in trivial street patrol, they have lost their training in large scale land wars. The USA is perhaps at its lowest military capability in decades. Putting the US Army into Iraq has caused serious damage to the USA that will take years to rebuild.

North Korea can snap their fingers under Uncle Sam's nose and laugh about it. That's why the USA has done nothing about North Korea; it can't. Quite simply, the USA can't fight a real war anymore.
