Yes, blogging is killing the traditional media.

There's also "personal-story-as-news". This trend has a major impact on the 
media. Large 
complex issues are ignored. The insurgency in Iraq grinds on, there's global 
warming, the 
Vietnamese bird flu,  $102/barrel oil, and dozens more really serious news that 
will affect 
us.

But we get: Paris Hilton, Jacko, Schiavo, and the Pope.

Interestingly, all of these are marginal people. They're social freaks. Michael 
Jackson, in 
his 40s, lives as a boy-child. Schiavo has been brain-dead for 15 years. The 
pope is 
completely disconnected from any sort of daily life. And so on. Yet they 
dominate the media.
