Wow, Lawrence. JK misreads you. Someone wrote me offlist to ask when you
had become human : ) a little liberal humor there. Nice poem. Reminds
me of the Amadou Diallo shoot down. Nicely handled.

As to being human there may be some doubt . . .

                                                Werewolf

            I woke from

            Dreaming, having

            Been sleeping

            With the pack

            In communal

            Oneness and

            Canine warmth.

            We could curl

            Against the seasons

            And dream each

            Pain away and dream

            A different ontology.

            I was shaman and

            Persistently dreamt

            I was a man

            Walking in long strides

            The ancient mountain

            Trails which we knew

            Persisted as scars

            On our reality. There

            Were grottos of kindness

            And love far from

            The sense of the world,

            Of cities which I

            Could never traverse

            With certainty, my

            Mind continuously wrenching

            These worlds apart.
