The same problem occurs with whole sentences, not just words. Take the old adage about how quickly time goes by when one is engaged in a pleasant activity: "Time flies when you're having fun."

But this can also be an imperative to engage in silly measurements of insect velocities when one is pleasantly occupied: "Time flies when you're having fun."
